Here are the fics that I’ve really liked this past month. All of these are complete. Enjoy!

Summary:
As his vision clears, the first thing Shouta does is look towards Midoriya.
Midoriya is there, and something unclenches in Shouta’s chest.
The second he notices the differences, that tension is back.
Wearing a black gakuran and blinking owlishly around the cabin, a younger version of Midoriya still hangs on to Suzume. He lacks the height and muscle mass of the student Shouta’s come to know. All gangly limbs and twitchy hands, he’s reminiscent of a young horse in how he moves and holds himself.

Summary:
"Come in," he says, shuffling the paperwork from his previous session together and opening a drawer designated for this purpose to place them in. Midoriya slowly pushes the door open before slipping through on silent feet, head tilted down a little more than usual as he closes it behind him and hesitantly settles in the chair across from his desk, backpack placed in his lap. "Did you bring the paperwork?" He asks when Midoriya says nothing in the way of a greeting.

He gets a blank stare from his student. "Paperwork?"

"Yes," Shouta nods, pausing to examine his student. His eyebrows are furrowed slightly, confusion mixed with alarm swirling in his eyes. He grips his backpack a little tighter, gnarled fingers digging into the fabric as he lifts it higher, covering all of his stomach and more of his chest.

The gesture screams defensive, fueled from a source of fear. His student is scared. It strikes Shouta very suddenly that he doesn't think he's seen Midoriya seem any semblance of relaxed around him or any of the other teachers. Something uneasy twists in his gut.

“I’m not here for a fight.”

Adaar laughs bitterly. “You expect me to believe that, Ben-Hassrath?”

“Whether you believe it or not doesn’t change the truth,” Bull responds, and shit, wrong move. Adaar’s stance shifts, just slightly. The guy’s a split second decision away from taking a swing. “Hey. Take a breath. Look around, Adaar. This ain’t a fight you want. You’re outnumbered.”

Adaar does look around before his eyes return to Bull, and he feels something twist in his stomach at the calm fury he sees on the guy’s face.

“I was born outside the Qun,” Adaar says harshly. “I owe it less than nothing, and I’m not letting it force a name on me. I chose my own.”

Or, the meeting between Bull and Adaar on the Storm Coast is a bit more tense than in canon, but the Herald doesn’t have much say in who joins the Inquisition.
